Storynomics
Robert McKee is an expert in storytelling, having put his knowledge to use to help countless award-winning writers understand story structure. In this series of seminars presented by Skyword, McKee is sharing his expertise with marketers to help them understand how storytelling can help them connect with their audiences. The Chicago seminar will take place on March 29. Tickets are $649.
Chicago HUG Relaunch
We've gotten great value out of attending the Chicago HubSpot User Group in the past, so we're excited that our local HUG is relaunching for 2017! This month's meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 8, from 6:00-8:00 PM. We hope to see you there!

Content Academy is a community of marketers who share their knowledge and experience through through regular classes and workshops. They'll be offering a number of events in Chicago in March, including:
- Tuesday, March 7, 6:00-8:00 PM: SEO: Optimizing Content to Improve Findability - This workshop will look at the history of SEO and explain how to optimize content to attract your ideal audience to your site.
- Tuesday, March 14, 6:00-8:00 PM: Word of Mouth: Sharing Your Content Via Social Media & Email Marketing - This workshop will cover how to target your audience using social channels and maintain a consistent tone and output.
- Tuesday, March 21, 6:00-8:00 PM: SEM: Investing in Search Engine Marketing - This workshow will discuss how to develop successful marketing campaigns using Google AdWords and Bing Ads.
- Thursday, March 23, 6:00-8:00 PM: Marketing Strategies: How to Promote Your Blog - This workshop will help marketers learn how to improve their content and use email and calls-to-action to engage with their audience.

- Wednesday, March 1, 6:00-7:00 PM: Does Technology Affect How We Feel and Think About Brands? - This free presentation at the University of Chicago will compare how marketers and customers look at brands and technology.
- Saturday, March 4, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Make Your Brand Stand Out! - This workshop will cover how brands can use visual design and emotion to connect with their customers and tell their story online. Tickets are $75.
- Tuesday, March 7, 12:00-2:00 PM: The Evolution of Cross Platform and Local Video Measurement - In this discussion, several companies will provide presentations about recent updates to their media methodologies related to changes in video measurement. Tickets are $55, or $45 for members of the Media Research Club of Chicago.
- Wednesday, March 8, 5:00-8:00 PM: 2017 Advanced Marketing Analytics Symposium - This free event at the Illinois Institute of Technology will look at how big data and analytics are revolutionizing the world of marketing.
- Thursday, March 9, 11:45 AM - 1:00 PM: Inclusive Social Media and Marketing - This free "Lunch 'N Learn" event, presented by NTEN Tech Club Chicago, will look at how marketers can make their social media content accessible to people with disabilities.
- Friday, March 10, 12:00-1:30 PM: Branding 101: Who, What, & Why - This free workshop will allow marketers to learn the basics of branding and compare their marketing materials with each other.
- Wednesday, March 15, 6:00-8:00 PM: Social Media Insights Series: Instagram - This class will look at how marketers can develop content on Instagram and use Instagram Ads. Tickets are $15, or free for members of 2112.
- Thursday, March 16, 6:00-8:00 PM: Building Brands People Love - This free panel discussion from General Assembly will look at how to create a brand message that people will fall in love with.
Networking
- Sunday, March 5, 7:00-10:00 PM: Young Professionals Networking for a Purpose - This free event is a great chance for marketers to connect with their colleagues and build relationships.
- Wednesday, March 8, 6:00-8:00 PM: Yelp Chicago Community Connection for Business Leaders and Marketers - This free event will allow marketers and business owners to network and discuss how to optimize their Yelp Business Page.
- Thursday, March 9, 6:00-8:00 PM: Bloggers Meet Startups - This free event will provide bloggers and social media marketers to network with local startup founders.
- Tuesday, March 14, 6:28 PM: Pi Day Pi K Fun Run - This fundraiser to benefit the Illinois Science Council will feature a 3.14 mile run.
- Wednesday, March 22, 6:00-8:00 PM: Welcome to Chicago Happy Hour - This free event, presented by the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network, is a great chance for anybody who is new to the area to make new friends and connect with other professionals.
- Tuesday, March 28, 5:30-7:30 PM: Connex at Sprout Social - This event from the Chicago AMA is a good opportunity to meet up with other members of Chicago's marketing community. Tickets are $20, or $10 for AMA members.
